London – 15 September 2022

Leaders around the world have offered their condolences following the passing away of Queen Elizabeth II. Millions in this country are paying tribute to the Queen given her immense humility and life-long service.

Three representatives of the Sikh Federation (UK) have been invited as special guests to attend the Lying in State of HM Queen Elizabeth II later today.

Bhai Amrik Singh, the Chair, Bhai Narinderjit Singh, the General Secretary and Bhai Dabinderjit Singh OBE, the Principal Adviser will be passing through Westminster Hall as special guests at around 1pm.

All three met HM Queen when she made her first visit to a Gurdwara to mark her Golden Jubilee. The historic visit was to Guru Nanak Gurdwara in Leicester.

All three have also met King Charles III on several occasions at events he has attended to pay tribute to the contribution of Sikhs.

Bhai Amrik Singh, the Chair of the Sikh Federation (UK) said:

“It was our duty to ensure the Sikh community was represented at Westminster Hall at this important moment in history.

As the three of us pay our respects we will simply and quietly repeat the Sikh salutation of ‘Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh’ — the Khalsa belongs to Waheguru; Victory is gifted by Waheguru.

This two-fold affirmation of faith signifies the special relationship between God and those who dedicated their entire life to God’s service and that faith triumphs over forces of evil.”
