Two released on bail for rapes - Community confidence in the police and politicians is at all time low

**Two released on bail for rapes - Community confidence in the police and politicians is at all time low ** Birmingham – 20 October 2025

49-year old man and 65-year old woman arrested on Friday on suspicion of rapes on 9 September (Oldbury) and 16 October (Halesowen) have been released on bail with conditions pending further enquiries.

Inderjit Kaur of the Sikh Federation (UK) said:

“Community confidence in the police and politicians is at all time low with the release of the two arrested on Friday on suspicion of the rapes on 9 September and 16 October.”

“There is huge community concern following the latest update from the police.”

“This comes on the back of the man in his 30s who was arrested on suspicion of the Tame Road rape also being released on bail without charge on 14 September.”

“The only difference appears to be there are “conditions” in relation to these two latest bails. The police have not clarified what these conditions are adding to our frustration.”

“We appreciate the police and CPS must have the evidential standard needed to progress these offences to charge, but the community is at a loss in terms of the evidence still required.”

“We suspect there needs to be more political pressure. There needs be the “political will” to act in the current climate, especially with the offence on 9 September being a racially aggravated rape that the police have clarified following our pressure.”

“We are planning an event in Parliament next Tuesday to take our campaign to Westminster.”
