LAUNCH OF THE SIKH MANIFESTO 2015-2020 & 50 TARGET SEATS

We are writing to invite you to the launch of the historic Sikh Manifesto on Saturday 31 January 2015 that is being hosted at Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Havelock Road, Southall, between 12 noon and 2.00pm. Please try and arrive early at around 11.30am if possible. The Sikh Manifesto has been based on nationwide consultations through meetings and networks and has been written with the May 2015 General Election in mind, but it is unlike the manifestos of the political parties. All Gurdwaras and Sikh organisations will be able to relate to the Sikh Manifesto as it collates the most important areas in which challenges remain for British Sikhs and progress is required. The launch of the Sikh Manifesto and 50 target seats is expected to attract widespread national mainstream media interest as well as coverage by Sikh and Punjabi media. The Sikh Manifesto when released will be a comprehensive document that each of the main political parties is expected to welcome as a positive political development and also endorsed by leading members of the Sikh community. With the Sikh Manifesto we will test the commitment of the main political parties and individual politicians to the British Sikh community. We wrote to the party leaders for the Conservatives, Labour, Liberal Democrats, UKIP and Scottish National Party on 1 January and asked them to inform MPs and Prospective Parliamentary Candidates in the 50 target seats where relevant about the launch and subsequent events. We also sent them a draft of the introduction to the Sikh Manifesto and a draft of the first of ten sections, which are also attached. These subsequent events will be at Guru Nanak Gurdwara, High Street, Smethwick, on Saturday 13 February between 1-3pm and concluding with an event in the UK Parliament in the Attlee Suite, Portcullis House on Thursday 26 February between 3-5pm. You will also wish to note these dates and times, especially if you are unable to attend the launch. We have been made aware you may not have been informed of the launch and subsequent events through your party. This letter is being sent via email to all MPs and the main Prospective Parliamentary Candidates in the 50 target seats. Please confirm via email response if you are attending the launch or one of the subsequent events. Yours sincerely,

Amrik Singh Bhai Amrik Singh Chair, Sikh Federation (UK)
